One of the things that makes Wear OS watches some of the best Android smartwatches is the wide range of apps available, and with so many out there, we’ve rounded up the best Wear OS apps for you.

Regardless of whether you like using your smartwatch to keep track of your fitness goals, another way of keeping up with your notifications, or just a fun way to know what time it is, there’s likely more than one app to help you out. One of the best things about Wear OS is the customization options when it comes to personalizing your watch face, and Facer is the best for that. You can build a watch face that perfectly suits your style or needs.

However, if creating one isn’t your forte, then there are thousands of choices available that you can get to fit your needs. Options like replicas of some of the most well-known traditional watch brands to unique custom-created designs spanning all tastes to let anyone get the perfect look for their watch.

Spotify

Of all the best music streaming services, Spotify has the coolest extra features for premium members. Besides gaining access to a vast library of tracks, the Spotify app for Wear OS also lets you access controls like pause, play, next, and more for any device playing your Spotify library. This is possible thanks to the magic of Spotify Connect.

While users couldn’t previously download music to their smartwatches, this feature is now available to premium users. Additionally, any wearable connected to the internet can stream songs on the go.

WhatsApp Messenger

A stand-out feature of Wear OS is notifications. These smartwatches can show nearly every notification arriving on your phone on your wrist, and it’s actionable even if you don’t have that specific app on your smartwatch. However, for things like texts, it opens up how you can respond when you have the proper app for it. For texting on Android, one of the best messaging apps available is WhatsApp.

When you have WhatsApp Messenger on your watch, you get many of its excellent features, including quick replies, voice notes, and more. You can even use WhatsApp on your Wear OS smartwatch without being connected to your phone, as long as you have an internet connection.

Shazam

Shazam is a music recognition platform with apps available for smartphones, tablets, PCs, Chromebooks, and Wear OS smartwatches. The best part is that you don’t have to fumble about after you’ve found the name of a song. The app lets you save your search history.

The Shazam app for Wear OS syncs across devices, so you can access your Shazam library from anywhere. Songs recognized on your wearable can also be viewed on other devices and vice versa.

Todoist

Todoist is now a fully standalone app for your wearable, so you don’t necessarily have to sign in and syn your account with your phone. The productivity app lets you create tasks and stay on top of them on the go.

The Wear OS app lets you schedule and manage tasks and there’s even a theme tool for your smartwatch. You can add the daily progress tile to your wearable’s home screen to track your everyday progress regarding tasks on the app.

Wear Casts

Wear Casts enables users to download their favorite podcasts, audiobooks, and other custom files onto their watches. You don’t need to be connected to your phone as long as the file is saved to your onboard storage.

If you’re a podcast lover, Wear Casts is the perfect Wear OS app for your smartwatch. You can que up your favorite shows and even play MP3 files with the app.

Our Groceries Shopping List

I’ve been using the Our Groceries Shopping List app for years and love it. Being able to create categories of different store items to make the shopping trip more efficient is wonderful.

My wife and I use Our Groceries Shopping List to add items to our lists independently, then we can easily see the singular list while at the store. With integration for Google Assistant and Wear OS, I can’t imagine using anything else.

Strava

Strava is one of the most widely used fitness apps available, and aside from being an excellent platform for tracking your exercises, it also has a great social aspect to it. Pairing all of this with your Wear OS watch helps make the most of every workout then when you are done with your sweat, share it with fellow Strava users.
